The venue, the dress, the people, the food … the design!
You’d think that the Bride and Groom are the key part of a wedding but in reality, it’s the design.
Invitations get people there, welcome signs, information signs, programs & seating charts keep people organised, menus reduce uncertainty around dietary requirements and wedding logos are classy. Now that is a lot of wedding stationery to design! But all of these together make your event more cohesive and effortlessly flawless!
So how could you save on the design?
- Save On Printing
1.1 Shop around for your best-priced printer option:
- Get a quote local printing company
- Research online printing companies. Top Tip: some online DIY design platforms offer printing as well! So not only are many of these design platforms very user-friendly but their printing costs are relatively low and you are saving on time and money!
- Not designing the items yourself? To save time ask the designer if they can print them for you, but, make sure to compare costs as although this is an easy time saver you may not economically be getting the best bang for your buck! Thus, consider designing the wedding stationery with someone and then printing externally if you are trying to keep costs down but sometimes it is just easy to get someone else to do things for you and save on time.
- Use your home printer! One of the best ways to save economically is for you to print your stationary yourself but make sure you have a printer up to the task you are setting ie Consider the color capacity and the compatibility of paper weight, paper size, and paper type.
Top Tip: Get/do test prints! This is a great way to establish the effect the price has on the quality as although the lower economic cost may be appealing you may end up with lower-quality products. Test prints are also great to test colours as what it looks like on your screen may differ when printed!
1.2 Make a wedding website! – Minimal paper or printer outsourcing is required, thus cutting down costs but can still be designed to be curated to suit the couple! Say I Do and The Knot are well used in New Zealand but there are many options and most are free or relatively low in cost.
2. Save On Time
Wedding Designs take time so here are a few ways you can save time!
- Outsource tasks! ie. Ask friends and family or hire a wedding planner, artist, or graphic designer, etc to design wedding stationery for you!
- Have a similar design throughout all stationery.
- Go minimal; Less stuff = Less stress
- Do it yourself – There are so many great sites you can DIY your wedding designs on such as Canva which has free easy-to-use templates that you can simply just input your information on and then send it off the printer!
- Know your details before designing. Check below for the key wedding stationery details!
